ABOUT US

Newly founded in 2020 by Rebecca Craig, RC Performing Arts is based in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire offering classes in Ballet, Tap and Modern.

In addition to these classes, children can participate in Acrobatic Arts, Pre-school and Parent & Toddler classes. Regular examinations will take place as well as performance opportunities such as parent showcases and dance shows. Classes start from as young as 18 months and my aim is to provide training that focuses on technique, as well as having lots of fun and creating long-lasting friendships.

Rebecca Craig

Principle Teacher

Rebecca started dance lessons at the age of 2 years old in Ballet, Tap and later Highland, National, Majorettes, Modern Theatre and Jazz.  Rebecca transferred to ISTD examinations as a teenager and upon leaving school completed her vocational training in Advance 2 Tap and Intermediate Modern.  During her training Rebecca was given the opportunity to participate in many dance shows at Aberdeen Arts Centre, corporate performances at AECC and competitions at IFDPA Disneyland Paris.

In 2015 Rebecca completed her national diplomas in both Acting & Performance and Musical Theatre and by 2017 had completed the ISTD Diploma in Dance Instruction (DDI) in both Modern Theatre and Tap Dance.  During this time Rebecca taught at many dance schools across the central belt of Scotland, entering students into exams and choreographing routines for competitions such as the Dance World Cup.

In May 2019 Rebecca welcomed her daughter Grace into the world and in August returned to freelance teaching for a variety of dance schools in Aberdeen.  She has since continued her training by certifying with Acrobatic Arts and completing the final units of her Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) with the ISTD.

Miss Meg

Ballet Teacher

Miss Meg has danced all of her life, starting with Ballet at age 2 and then expanding to tap, modern & jazz.  At 16 she trained at the vocational college Ballet West, gaining her BA (Hons) in Dance.  Since then she has danced abroad in Cyprus & Rhodes and was even Dance Captain for these performances.

Since coming home Miss Meg has been teaching freelance Ballet in Aberdeen/shire and is excited to complete her Diploma in Dance Education in Ballet with the ISTD.

Miss Caleigh

Class assistant

Caleigh started dancing as a toddler studying Ballet and Tap. She has had many opportunities to perform at Aberdeen Arts Centre in dance and theatre shows such as ‘Music 4 U’. Caleigh has also had the opportunity to attend a Tap workshop by the fabulous Adam Garcia.

Caleigh is currently in secondary school studying for her National 5 examinations.

The children at RC Performing arts absolutely adore Miss Caleigh. Her calming presence and experience in helping children with ASD means she plays an important role in assisting me with classes.
